Free Single Malt Scotch Tasting - RSVP Now!
Both The Macallan and Glenrothes distilleries are part of the Edrington portfolio of distilleries. Edrington is a family-owned company that is proud to provide the world with some of the best Scotches.
The Glenrothes Distillery was built beside the Burn of Rothes in 1878. Historically, the distillery has suffered its fair share of disaster through fire and financial crisis. Towards the end of the 20th century, the distillery's luck began to turn and they have been producing single malts of note ever since.
Sherry seasoned oak casks define the flavor profile of The Glenrothes single malt Scotch whisky. Almost 90% of the casks maturing at their Speyside distillery have previously held sherry, a wine made from white grapes grown near the city of Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia, Spain.

The Macallan’s pot stills are amongst the smallest in Speyside. Their unique size and shape give the spirit maximum contact with the copper, helping to concentrate the ‘new make’ spirit and provide the rich, fruity, and full-bodied flavors characteristic of The Macallan. There are fourteen of these spirit stills, crafted from copper, each holding an initial ‘charge’ of 3,900 liters. These stills are so famous that they have appeared on the back of a Bank of Scotland £10 banknote!
