LIKE DANGLING YOUR FEET IN COLD STREAM ON HOT, HOT SUMMER DAY.
Michter's makes some of the best tasting bourbon, rye, and whiskey you can find. The 20 year and 10-year bottles have few peers that can keep pace. And the American Whiskey is right up there with them. What makes it American whiskey rather than "bourbon" is that it is aged in bourbon-soaked barrels instead of new oak. Which gives it a flavor all its own. Take a sip and be transported. Feels like sitting creekside on a scorching summer day, dangling your feet in the cool current. There's the smell of warm wood in the air and ripening fruit in the trees. And there's tiny bite of spice on your tongue as you chew on that cinnamon toothpick.

Michter's is proud to honor a historical legacy tracing back to the founding of America's first whiskey company in 1753.
Located in Shively, a section of Louisville with a legendary whiskey heritage, Michter's Distillery is a 7.5 acre, 67,000 square foot facility. A fully-licensed distilled spirits plant (DSP KY-20003), the facility is currently home to all of Michter's processing and bottling operations, as well as two of its small pot stills. Additionally, in October 2014, Michter's installed a custom-built 32 inch diameter, 46 foot high copper column still with a distinctive copper pot still doubler. Designed by Vendome's Rob Sherman, Michter's Master Distiller Pratt, and Michter's Distiller Pam Heilmann, this new still will allow Michter's to eventually bring more great whiskey to the market to satisfy growing demand.
Legacy
In 1989, with the entire American whiskey industry suffering a prolonged downturn, Michter's then-owners declaRed bankruptcy and abandoned the premises, leaving its Pennsylvania operations in disrepair and the Michter's name íë_íë_’± seemingly íë_íë_’± lost to history íë_íë__ were it not for a fortuitous connection to two whiskey lovers with an abiding admiration for the old Michter's legacy and quality.
In the 1990s, Joseph J. Magliocco and his consultant and mentor Richard íë_íë_íëí‰Dickíë_íë_? Newman teamed up to resurrect Michter's. Magliocco, who enteRed the wine and spirits industry after attending Yale College and graduating from Harvard Law School, was intimately familiar with Michter's through his college days of imbibing and bartending and later through his work selling Michter's in New York.
Magliocco and Newman began with a simple strategy íë_íë_’± to honor the Michter's legacy by producing the best whiskey possible, cost be damned! After filing for the unused and abandoned Michter's trademark, they made their first major strategic decision: to resurrect Michter's in Kentucky, in the heart of the modern American whiskey industry, to ensure access to the best whiskey talent and resources available.
